For an entire generation of Afghan women, education and opportunities were once a given. Growing up post-Taliban, they reveled in a freedom their mothers never had the chance to experience. But everything took a heart-wrenching turn in August 2021, as the Taliban regained control over Kabul.

In the face of this ominous change, the Afghan Women’s Soccer team saw the approaching storm. They made the unimaginably tough choice to depart from their homes and families, seeking refuge under the cover of night, in pursuit of a safer and more promising life anywhere but there.

Their first-hand stories take us through the heart-rending daily struggles and personal impacts that arose from two decades of American foreign policy decisions and the subsequent letdowns. Their experiences, their voices, encapsulate the immediate consequences of these choices, and the complex interplay between global decisions and individual lives. 

At PSK collective, we are focused on generating empowerment and awareness for gender equality initiatives, aiming to unlock the boundless potential of girls and women worldwide.
